Everyone has a prediction about your job. Musk has one. Gates has one. Your uncle has one. None of them have read your job description.
This is the walkthrough for the Try It Tonight prompt from Issue #9. It takes about ten minutes and gives you a real answer about your own work instead of a headline about everyone's.
You need something written down. Pick whichever is easiest:
The posting for your own title. Search your job title on LinkedIn or Indeed and grab a posting from a company similar to yours. Close enough works.
Your last performance review. The goals section is usually a better description of your actual job than your official one.
One real week. Open a blank doc and list everything you actually did last week. This is the most accurate option and it takes fifteen minutes.
Use a public posting rather than internal company documents. More on that at the bottom.
I'm pasting a job description below. Go through it responsibility by responsibility and sort every single one into three groups.

This still needs a person, and it will for a long time
For group 3, tell me exactly why. Is it taste, relationships, accountability, reading a room, making a call with incomplete information, or something else?
Then give me two things: the part of this role I should stop spending my best hours on, and the part I should get noticeably better at. Be specific and be honest with me, even if the answer is uncomfortable.
